Sheridan Healthcare To Move HQ To 221,000 SF In Plantation

Sheridan Healthcare, the nation’s largest provider of anesthesia services, will be moving from its Sunrise headquarters to a larger facility at the former Motorola campus in Plantation.
Sheridan executives chose to move into a portion of the former Motorola campus because it is near Sheridan’s current headquarters and can accommodate additional employees in the future, said Todd Lunsford, chief marketing director for Sheridan’s parent company Amsurg Corp., in an email.
The 221,000 square-foot renovation will be completed in two phases. The first 166,000-square-foot phase will be finished in time for employees to move in by March. Work on the remaining 55,000 square feet will be finished in January 2017, Lunsford said.
The renovations “will be substantial and designed to provide Sheridan employees an improved work environment with lots of natural light, ample space to meet and collaborate and additional on-site amenities.”
The new space will initially hold more than 1,000 Sheridan corporate employees, Lunsford said.
Sheridan operates nationwide, employing more than 2,200 doctors and other health care professionals, according to its website.
Founded in 1953 in South Florida, Sheridan manages and operates several physician practices locally but they will remain in their own offices and won’t move to the new corporate headquarters, Lunsford added.
Sheridan was bought in May 2014 for $2.35 billion in cash and stock by Nashville-based Amsurg Corp., which runs 242 same-day surgery centers.
