Project Featuring Condos, Hotel, Shops Coming To Delray

Four years ago, New York developer Alan Mindel came to South Florida, intent on buying land in Fort Lauderdale or Hollywood.

He ended up in Delray Beach, impressed with the vibe on Atlantic Avenue.

“I landed in Delray one night, and I was out on Atlantic Avenue, and I just fell in love with the place, plain and simple,” he told the Sun Sentinel in 2014.

Mindel assembled land in the SOFA District, south of Atlantic on Fifth Avenue between Southeast Second and Southeast Third streets, and is moving forward with plans to develop a mixed-used project consisting of 35 condominiums, a 122-room hotel and 5,000 square feet of boutique shops.

The condo units at 236 Fifth Avenue are on sale, with prices ranging from $500,000 to more than $1 million. The Corcoran Group is the exclusive listing agent.

The one-, two- and three-bedroom condos will be adjacent to the Aloft Hotel and will share its amenities, including an event room, pool, fitness center, room service and a concierge.

Mindel’s Samar 202 Florida LLC obtained funding from M&T Bank. The project is expected to be ready for occupancy by the end of 2018.

“Delray Beach is a thriving urban area and is unique in that it is a walkable community with a vibrant, hip downtown,” Mindel said in a statement. “The hotel, condos and street-level boutiques will extend the dynamic Delray Beach scene to 236 Fifth Avenue and the Aloft Hotel.”
