Mixed-Use Project Slated For Pompano Beach

The Atlantic Square mixed-use project with apartments and commercial space has been proposed in Pompano Beach.

The city’s Development Review Committee were scheduled to consider the plans today (Aug. 19) for 360 residential units and 100,000 square feet of commercial space, which could include retail or neighborhood office uses.

The land currently belongs to Atlantic Square Properties, owner of the 5.2-acre site at 2600 E. Atlantic Blvd., and Pompano Beach Gas, owner of the 0.4-acre site at 2798 E. Atlantic Blvd. The larger site has a 79,311-square-foot shopping center that’s 51 years old and the smaller site has a 3,021-square-foot gas station.

The property is one block west of the Intracoastal Waterway.

It’s likely these two longtime landowners will sell the property should they secure rezoning. The development application lists the applicant as Fort Lauderdale-based New Atlantic Properties.

The application says the 360 residential units would total 485,000 square feet and the commercial space would be on the ground floor.

“This proposed amendment will create the opportunity to develop a mixed use area that serves to enhance this gateway within the city, add to the improvements made by the city and CRA [community redevelopment agency] and provides open spaces and other amenities that do no exist in this location today,” the developer stated in the application.
