Johnson & Wales University (JWU) has engaged CBRE as the exclusive transaction management and brokerage service provider of a unique site in North Miami.

Situated in the highly desirable Biscayne Boulevard corridor along the South Florida coast, the site is comprised of 18 buildings and approximately 25 acres. The University is looking for interested buyers who will optimize the disposition strategies and realize the greatest value.

CBRE’s Nina Farrell, Higher Education Specialist, and David Wigoda, Capital Markets Senior Vice President, will lead the marketing effort in collaboration with CBRE’s Southeast Regional Manager of Public Institutions and Education Solutions, Lee Ann Korst. Marketing efforts for this site will begin in early September.

“The site offers an enormous opportunity for an investor. This is a very large site, which is difficult to find in South Florida, especially one in such good condition,” said Mr. Wigoda, Senior Vice President. “This area is densely populated offering an abundance of activities and is highly commutable. With the population significantly increasing within the next five years, this area will only become more attractive.”

The ±24-acre site is comprised of 28 parcels, 18 buildings, one parking garage and five surface parking lots, and it is located at 1701 Northeast 127th Street in North Miami. The potential buyers’ market is vast and could include an educational user having interest in continuing the site as it currently functions, or a non-educational owner occupier interested in specific parcels for conversion into office and/or retail and multifamily units.

The site is east of Interstate 95, along the Florida coast, near public transportation and major thoroughfares. The area has substantial amenities with a variety of restaurants, grocery stores, convenience stores, gas stations, department stores, banks, gyms in proximity. This beautiful campus has been impeccably maintained and is lined with lush tropical landscaping.

Johnson & Wales University was founded in 1914 and has four campuses throughout the country. The North Miami Campus was established in 1992 and has enjoyed alumni from 127 countries pursuing careers worldwide. “Johnson & Wales presence in the North Miami market has long contributed to the positive growth of the community. Recognizing this role, JWU is seeking a buyer(s) who not only brings the highest value but will continue to positively influence the surrounding community,” said Ms. Farrell.

CBRE’s Public Institutions and Education Solutions (PIES) Group provides real estate services to federal, state, county, city and educational institutions around the country.  They have recently completed significant projects with Oregon State University, U.T. MD Anderson Cancer Center, and West Virginia University System.  As well as for the States of Florida, North Carolina, New York, Texas, and Maryland. In addition, PIES has worked with many cities, including Miami, Hollywood, Austin, Jacksonville, Dallas, and San Diego.  The unique benefit of the CBRE platform is both higher education expertise as well as local/regional market presence.
