Is South Florida Land The New Gold?

Ponce de Leon Financial Towers LLC, a Coral Gables company managed by veteran developer W. Allen Morris, on May 10 sold a nearly one-acre property at 2801 Ponce de Leon Blvd., according to Miami-Dade County property records. The buyer of the property in the Old Spanish Village mixed-use development site is 2901 Ponce LLC. The Miami-based company is managed by Jose Antonio Perez, according to state corporate records.
The buyer shares a mailing address with Agave Holdings LLC, which has ties to the owner of the Jose Cuervo tequila brand. The company paid $30.55 million for most of the Old Spanish Village site in 2010.
The $24 million sale price matches what Morris paid for the property in December 2007. The developer had planned to build a 215,000-square-foot office tower. An older building was demolished to make way for the project.
