Food Over Fitness: Outback, Tilted Kilt To Replace Former Bally's

A pair of restaurants could replace the former Bally Total Fitness at 2701 South University Drive.
The gym closed that location following its bankruptcy in 2008. The 3.6-acre property is now owned by Davie Florida LLC, which is registered to Ross Realty Investments.
The application calls for a 6,538-square-foot building for Tilted Kilt, the pub that has been expanding across South Florida since opening its first location here in 2014.  The site makes sense, given recent opening of fellow “breastaurant” Twin Peaks in the Tower Shops, located just north of the former gym site.  A 5,741-square-foot building for Outback Steakhouse is also planned.
The second phase of the project would be a retail/office building of 8,000 square feet.
