First Mixed-Use Building At MiamiCentral Welcomes First Office Tenants

Florida East Coast Industries announced the completion of 3 MiamiCentral, its first mixed-use tower at MiamiCentral and to welcome its first office tenant, Brightline. Brightline, the nation’s only privately funded inter-city, express passenger rail service, officially moved its corporate headquarters to 3 MiamiCentral, and HNTB, a nationally recognized infrastructure solutions firm, recently signed a lease for its Miami office.

The twelve-story building is comprised of 96,000 square feet of Class A office space and a seven-story parking garage to supply ample parking for Brightline guests, visitors and office tenants. Brightline’s lease encompasses approximately 24,000 square feet and HNTB’s lease spans approximately 18,000 square feet.

Multiple retail spaces make-up the ground floor where Einstein Bros. Bagels and a major grocer will make their debut.

MiamiCentral, the highly anticipated hub for all things transportation, leisure and business, is a transformational, first-of-its-kind, transit-oriented development, spanning six Downtown Miami city blocks. It serves as the southern terminus for Brightline, the new inter-city, express passenger rail service that opened between West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale on January 13. The system will extend to Miami in the coming months and will ultimately connect to the Orlando International Airport. MiamiCentral will also provide connectivity to all forms of transit in Miami-Dade County, including Metromover, Metrorail and soon, Tri-Rail.


“We are excited to have recently relocated Brightline’s new headquarters to 3 MiamiCentral, which is an important component of MiamiCentral and strategically located in Historic Overtown,” said Patrick Goddard, Brightline’s President and Chief Operating Officer. “Downtown Miami continues to transform into a vibrant community, and the addition of this new urban development and passenger rail system will be critical as the city continues to develop.”

Other major tenants joining MiamiCentral include Cisneros, Ernst & Young, Moss & Associates, Spaces and Florida East Coast Industries.

With the completion of 3 MiamiCentral, employers will soon be able to benefit from Brightline’s connectivity located just steps from their offices, allowing them access to a larger talent pool. When Brightline extends service to Miami, residents in Broward and Palm Beach counties will have a quick and comfortable way to commute to work into Downtown Miami and bypass the traffic and congestion on I-95.

Within the design of 3 MiamiCentral, architect AECOM integrated a series of grand scale art installations by Robert McKnight, a celebrated South Florida-based artist with an extensive portfolio of public work. McKnight’s installations can be seen on the south, west and north exteriors of the building and include two friezes and three murals. The art itself is a vibrant collage of images including the notes from an old blues guitarist that turn into butterflies, antique African masks, and representation of Lena Horne, a famous actress, singer and activist among other cultural references. Collectively, the artwork pays homage to the surrounding Historic Overtown community, bringing to life a beautiful representation of culture and history to the mixed-use development.

3 MiamiCentral was completed in December 2017 and is located at 161 NW 6TH Street in Miami.
