Chiquita Brands Relocates Banana Division HQ To 19,000 SF Office In Dania Beach

Chiquita Brands International Inc. is moving the headquarters of its banana division to Dania Beach from Charlotte, North Carolina.
Approximately 70 to 90 jobs will be relocated and the company will take over 19,000 square feet of space at the DCOTA building in the City of Dania Beach. Approximately 200 total jobs will be relocated to Florida with the move of its Fresh Express division to Central Florida.
Partners who worked with the company included the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, the City of Dania Beach, Broward County, Enterprise Florida and Rod Loschiavo of JLL.
Proximity to shipping lanes through Port Everglades was a driver in the move.

City of Dania Beach Mayor Marco Salvino, Sr. said, “We couldn’t be happier that Chiquita has chosen the City of Dania Beach as the headquarters location for its banana division. The company is a valued addition to our city and we look forward to seeing Chiquita grow and thrive in its new home.”

 

Port Everglades Chief Executive and Port Director Steven Cernak said, “Chiquita has been a valued customer of Port Everglades since 2003. The company generates more than 483,000 tons of cargo annually, mostly bananas from Central America.  They also operate a state-of-the-art fruit processing center in one of the Port’s warehouses.  We’re very pleased they’ve chosen to locate in Broward County and wish them much continued success.”
