Avison Young has established a new service line in Florida – Development Advisory Services – borne out of the growing demand from clients throughout the state.

Eric D. Swanson, commercial development and infrastructure executive, has been retained as Senior Vice President to head up Development Advisory Services for Florida.

As the company nears its fifth anniversary within the Florida market, Avison Young was an instant entrant opening seven offices throughout the state and oversees more than 22 million square feet and 12,000 acres of active listings. The development advisory service line will continue to enhance the synergistic consultancy services provided by the firm, which is one of the largest sellers of land in Florida. Swanson will lead complex offerings including strategic planning, financial feasibility, property analysis, entitlements, financing coordination, and construction management focused on office, industrial, and retail, and other asset classes.

“Our strategic expansion over the past five years, either through acquisitions or service line extensions, has placed our firm at the forefront of the industry,” said Pike Rowley, Principal and Managing Director with Avison Young overseeing Florida’s operations. “I am most proud that we have become a company of choice for quality professionals of high skill and character. Eric enables us to continue to bolster our client-centric focus and seamless collaboration between our Florida offices.”

Since graduating from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor’s Degree in economics, Swanson has been active in commercial real estate for nearly 40 years working in various management roles growing his experience within real estate development, infrastructure, investment, project management, brokerage services, and consulting. Prior to joining Avison Young, he was a Partner at Treadwell Franklin Infrastructure Capital, LLC., and previously, Director of Real Estate Investment Odebrecht USA. However, his history with Flagler Development where he served as Executive Vice President reunites him with the initial team, including Rowley, that formed the Avison Young offices in Florida.

“With all major Florida cities viewed as international hotspots for business, real estate, and development, and with Avison Young a leading player in land sales throughout the state, this new role provides the right synergy for my skill set,” said Swanson. “I look forward to spearheading this extension of Avison Young services to further exemplify its commitment to efficiently and expertly meeting and exceeding client business objectives throughout the state.”

Swanson has served as past President of NAIOP South Florida as well as ULI’s Vice Chair of District Councils. He has worked on several high-profile projects including Beacon Center in Doral, Beacon Pointe in Weston, Baptist Hospital in Miami, IBM expansion in Boca Raton, and P3 Projects such as Port Everglades International Logistics Center in Broward County and work at the Miami International Airport.
