Stiles Affiliate Hernandez Construction Names CFO

Hernandez Construction, an affiliate of full-service commercial real estate firm, Stiles, today announced the appointment of Steve Cassetta as Chief Financial Officer.
Cassetta will be responsible for the group’s financial operations while helping to drive its long-term strategic growth plan. Hernandez Construction specializes in the construction of build-to-suit projects serving the commercial and industrial sector.

“Steve brings decades of experience and thoughtful leadership to our executive team,” said president Alex Hernandez. “His diverse background and proven ability to create operational efficiencies and increase revenue will help us to achieve our long-term strategic objectives.”

Cassetta brings over 40 years of financial and accounting experience to Hernandez Construction. He joins the company following a distinguished career as chief financial officer and secretary at Hypower, Inc. In that capacity, Cassetta helped to transform the company into a market leader, increasing its revenue by 90% to more than $120 million. He has also held financial and operating leadership roles in public and private companies across the U.S., including Raytheon Engineers & Constructors, a global architect-engineering firm with annual revenues in excess of $2.5 billion, Sturgeon Electric Company, and Quanta Services.

“It is an honor to join Hernandez during this exciting time in their business trajectory,” commented Cassetta. “The company is led by a strong executive team and it is well positioned to continue its growth strategy through sound financial approaches.”

Initially, Cassetta will focus his efforts on implementing strategic programs that will allow the company to expand its platform and further penetrate key market segments, namely healthcare and higher education.

“The healthcare and higher education sectors are experiencing rapid growth as baby boomers age and the changing job market places heavier emphasis on advanced degrees,” said Hernandez. “With more than a decade of experience in these product types, we are well-positioned to capture this growth,” commented Hernandez.

Hernandez boasts a construction management portfolio of more than three million square feet. Major projects include the 270,000-square-foot Flagler Station in Miami and the 264,000-square-foot corporate headquarters for Aero-Turbine, Inc. in Miramar. The company currently has more than a half-million square feet underway and about 700,000 square feet slated to break ground in Q2 2015.
Cassetta holds a bachelor’s in business management from University of Notre Dame and an MBA from Syracuse University.
