Owners Of Bal Harbour Shops Join Forces With Swire On Brickell CityCentre

The owners of Bal Harbour Shops, the Whitman family, have become co-developers of the retail at Brickell CityCentre, a mixed-use project Swire Properties is building in Miami.
About 40 percent of the 520,000 square feet of retail in the project will focus on luxury goods, with the balance being a mix of upper-tier and premium retailers, according to The Miami Herald.
As part of the deal, the Whitmans will make an equity investment in Brickell CityCentre, with Swire retaining majority control of the $1.05 billion project. The Whitmans will work on everything from leasing to marketing the retail and Swire will retain control of the residences, hotel and office components of the project.
