Marcus & Millichap’s Douglas Mandel and Team Wins Big At NAIOP’s 2019 Awards Of Excellence

Marcus & Millichap Senior Vice President and Institutional Property Advisors (IPA) senior director Douglas K. Mandel was awarded the “2018 Office Broker of the Year for Investment Sales” from the South Florida Chapter of NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association.

Mandel’s team experienced an extremely active 2018, closing more than $270 million. So far this year, the team closed transactions in excess of $100 million.

Mandel also was awarded the 2018 Office Sale of the Year for his part in the sale of Plantation Corporate Center.

Mandel, along with C. Todd Everett, SIOR, also with Marcus & Millichap’s Institutional Property Advisors division in Marcus & Millichap’s Fort Lauderdale office, negotiated the sale. The two-building, 239,616-rentable-square-foot office portfolio, located within the Jacaranda Park of Commerce, sold for $43,150,000. Mandel and Everett represented the seller, a limited-liability company and procured the buyer, a joint venture partnership between IP Capital Partners, LLC and a fund managed by Westport Capital Partners LLC.

Plantation Corporate Center I & II is located on a 20.3-acre lakefront land parcel at 1600 and 1601 SW 80th Terrace between University Drive and Pine Island Road on the north side of Interstate 595. Access to Florida’s Turnpike, Interstate 95, and the Sawgrass Expressway is nearby.

Mandel was also recognized as a Finalist in the same category for the sale of The Atrium at Broken Sound, located in Boca Raton, FL.

Kuhlman

Mandel team member Tyler Kuhlman was also named 2018 Rookie of the Year. Kuhlman negotiated the following transactions in 2018, which totaled more than $63.5 million:

 

 

 

 

  • 3300 SW 15th St. in Deerfield Beach, which sold for $1,575,000
  • Geneva Bays II & III, located in Riviera Beach, which sold for $3,875,000
  • Park Central 2-6, located in Pompano Beach, which sold for $20,200,000
  • United Rentals, located in Pompano Beach, which sold for $3,030,000
  • Powerline Business Center, located in Fort Lauderdale, which sold for $9,051,800
  • The Atrium at Broken Sound, located in Boca Raton, which sold for $21,400,000
  • Kowerk Executive Suites, located in West Palm Beach, which sold for $3,425,000

This is the 2nd consecutive year that a member of Mandel’s team has been recognized with the NAIOP Rookie of the Year Award. In 2017, team member Elon Gerberg received the award.

The Capital Markets Broker Team, which is comprised of members Mandel, Kuhlman, Gerberg, Adam Klein and Eric Fixler, was recognized as a Finalist for The 2018 Capital Markets Team of the Year.

NAIOP honors the best local commercial development companies, real estate projects, deals, and dealmakers of the year through its annual Awards of Excellence Event.
