Global Law Firm Doubles Space, Inks 45,000 SF Deal

Global law firm DLA Piper has signed a long-term lease renewal to expand by 22,500 square feet, taking the 24th floor in addition to its current footprint on the 25th floor of the Southeast Financial Center building for a total of 45,134 square feet, according to a release.
In 2011, DLA Piper signed its first lease in Miami at Southeast Financial Center, and committed long-term within eight short months, taking the entire 25th floor.
“The expansion of DLA Piper within the building is indicative of the economic improvement that has been taking place in Miami, as professional services firms have expanded into the market over the years and continue to experience healthy growth,” said Donald Cartwright, Senior Vice President with JLL.
Cartwright along with JLL Vice President Nicole Vassilaros are the exclusive leasing agents for Southeast Financial Center.
Legal firms, followed by healthcare and financial services, are demanding the most office space of any industry in the Miami-Dade market. “Competition for premier office space in Downtown Miami is increasing, and in response, DLA Piper acted quickly on the opportunity to further expand within Southeast Financial Center in order to meet current and future space requirements,” continued Cartwright.
With 4,200 lawyers located in more than 30 countries throughout the Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe and the Middle East, DLA Piper is one of the largest law firms in the world, positioning it to help companies with their legal needs across the globe.
Currently, Southeast Financial Center is home to 26 law firms, fourteen of which are listed on the 2013 National Law Journal list of top 350 law firms.
